Celebrating 500 years of the Reformation
What is the Reformation?

Five hundred years ago this year, Martin Luther published a series of debating points that would challenge the powerful traditions of the established church of his time. These Ninety-Five Theses mark the beginning of the Reformation - a movement among 16th century Christians that changed their world and laid the foundations of ours. At the heart of this movement was a simple but much neglected principle – that the Bible, God’s written word, should be the essential authority for Christian belief. For the love of God’s truth, Luther and the reformers who followed him were active in making the Bible available to people in their own languages, and this has continued ever since. For two hundred years, the Bible Society in Australia has also been part of this wonderful endeavour, seeking to spread the truth of the gospel among all nations through faithful Bible translation and publication.
