Ronnie Wilson's Gift

Francis Chan

Hardback 2011-03-01

A little boy's attempts to give Jesus a gift teaches him the truth that what he does for others, he does for Jesus.

When Ronnie Wilson learns about the amazing gift of salvation that Jesus gave him, he wants to give Jesus a gift in return. But how can he get it to heaven? And what does he have to give? He decides on his prized baseball glove, signed by a professional baseball player. With $6.47 from his piggy bank Ronnie sets out to get the glove to heaven, but at each turn Ronnie's plan seems thwarted. However, as a result his path crosses with some very needy people, who Ronnie is able to help.

At the end of the day, Ronnie prays to Jesus and tells Him he tried to get his glove to Him. That night he dreams that Jesus thanks him for his gift and explains that feeding the homeless man, spending time with a lonely friend, and giving a balloon to a girl who can't afford one, were all gifts to Jesus and quotes Matthew 25:40:

'And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

When Ronnie wakes up, he takes his glove to someone who always wanted to play baseball but didn't have his own glove, and that night he prays, 'Dear Jesus, I hope you liked the glove.'

This is a delightfully illustrated book by best-selling author Francis Chan with a wonderful lesson that will teach your children about the joy of giving selflessly to others and simultaneously giving to Jesus.
