From an endorsement by Christine MacMillan, World Evangelical Alliance Chair, WEA Global Human Trafficking Taskforce. The devotional commentary presents a thread line of Jim's insights weaving a mosaic of personal and skillful conviction. We are left considering what it means to live justice beyond a revolutionary tactic of self determination. The book is a tapestry of justice and character in harmonious colours of selected intention. We find ourselves heading into our own missionary journeys wanting to live right while righting wrongs.
Since finishing high school in the 1970s, Jim has been an Ambulance Officer in NSW; a High School Teacher; and a Theology lecturer. From 2007 till 2012, Jim worked for Urban Neighbors of Hope (UNOH) based in Springvale, Noble Park and Dandenong, overseeing their training programs. He currently works for ACCESS ministries as a regional support manager to school chaplains.
Jim is an avid writer. In Nov 2005, UNOH published his book 'The Eye of the Needle: Discipleship and Wealth'. In 2006, Acorn Press published his 'Women, Leadership and the Church'. And in 2009 UNOH Publications put out Jim's social justice commentary on the epistle of James: 'James: Peace Activist and Advocate for the Poor'. Jim's first novel is 'The Sunburnt Circus'.
Jim has a Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in History, a Diploma in Education, and a Masters in Theology with Honors. Jim helped establish a multi-faith network of members of different faith communities in the city of Casey during 2006. That group is now up and running and Jim served as the first President of the Casey Multi-faith Network during 2007 and again more recently. Besides spending time with family (he has 4 adult children and 11 grandchildren), Jim also likes to go to the beach, go bush, get in a game of tenpin bowling, or watch a good movie.
In recent years he has been getting some journal articles accepted and published after peer review, including: 'Violent Language: a clue to the Historical Occasion of James' Evangelical Quarterly. Vol. LXXXV No. 3. July 2013; 'Could Philippians have been written from the Second Roman Imprisonment?' Evangelical Quarterly. Vol. LXXXIV. No. 3 July 2012. pp.213-233; and 'Galatians 3:28: liberating for women, or of limited application?' Expository Times. (123.6) pp. 272-277. March 2012.
