Patrice Gopo began writing essays after a half-hearted attempt at a career in chemical engineering and a sincere attempt at a career in community development. Drawing on her experience as the child of Jamaican immigrants, born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Patrice enjoys exploring issues of race, immigration, and belonging. Her essays have appeared in a variety of literary journals and publications,nbsp;including The New York Times, Sojourners, Christianity Today, The Washington Post, Creative Nonfiction, and Gulf Coast .Her radio commentaries have been featured on NPR.Patrice has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and Masters in Business Administration and Public Policy from the University of Michigan. She lives with her family in North Carolina.
