These songs were written by Phil Wickham in the aftermath of surgery on his vocal chords, an operation that carried the risk of ending his career. They are infused with the personal revelation Phil received during that difficult time: that God loves us as his children, no matter what, and we have nothing to fear.
Standing on the musical foundation he has built through the years, Children of God is at once recognizable as another Phil Wickham masterpiece...but with a few musical twists and turns that make this record a sonic buffet. A year and a half ago Phil lost his voice and was forced to get surgery on his vocal chords that carried the risk of not being able to sing professionally again. During that difficult season, God spoke the simple yet massive truth into that heart that He loves us. That we are first and foremost His children. That whatever may come our way we are His children. These songs were written as a response to this deep personal revelation and a call to others who have lost sight of knowing this for themselves. We are His. We have nothing to fear. We have only hope in front of us. We are the Children Of God.

Phil Wickham is a Contemporary Christian music vocalist/songwriter and guitarist from California.
Born in Orange County son of well-known worship leader John Wickham, Phil came to a point where he made his father's faith his own when he was 12 years old. He moved to San Diego in the middle of junior high school where his career as a worship leader was spawned when he was asked by his youth pastor to lead worship. Wickham accepted, encouraged by his father then a worship pastor at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa.
By 18, Wickham had released his debut CD, Give You My World, which included the hit song "Shining." Surprised by its good reception, he began working on twelve new songs for his self-titled album, which was released in 2006.
The 10th track from his 2007 release Cannons, "Jesus Lord of Heaven", has been translated into seven different languages and several of his songs like "This is Amazing Grace" are sung the world over.
