It is the 1960s and Sharon is a typical California girl. While in college she meets and marries an exchange student from Iran. Soon after, the romantic man who swept her off her feet becomes an angry and brooding busband. A son is born and they move to Teheran. There things get worse and soon her marriage and situation becomes a living nightmare. Trapped in Iran, abused by her husband and denied justice by a culture that demeans women, she finds Christ and the courage to escape. However, she must leave her two sons behind. While in excile in Isreal she finds hope and love amoung a community of Messianic Jews and American Believers. But her mother's heart never stops yearning to be reunited with the sons she's left in Iran. This moving memoir reads like a tale of adventure and romance. It is a timely look at three faiths by a Christian who lived and worked in Iran and Israel. It is also a story of love and redemption. Winner of the San Diego Book Award for Narrative Nonfiction.
