:GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR GIFTS
We must do more than learn the definitions, characteristics and principles of
spiritual gifts; we must put them into practice in daily living and service for God.
Therefore, at the close of every chapter you will find a section titled Next Steps.
In this wrap-up section, a conclusion is drawn from the material presented in the
chapter. The purpose of this section is to help you understand how to personally
and practically apply that chapter in your life and church. As you work through
this book, be sure to ask God to guide you in identifying, understanding, and
using your spiritual gifts for His purpose and glory.
The book is split into two parts:
Part 1 ? Chapters 1-8 cover the practical description and understanding
of Team-oriented spiritual gifts.
Part 2 ? In Chapters 9-17, each of the nine spiritual gifts is covered
in depth. You will learn how to activate your particular gift(s) in
your own life, and to encourage others to unlock their spiritual gifts
This book is meant to be written in! In particular, we strongly encourage you to
take the Your Gifts Spiritual Gifts Survey on page 171 before reading the book. By
taking the survey and discovering your dominant spiritual gift (and secondary
gifts) first, you will gain deeper understanding of the material, and discover the
tools for activating your gifts for greatest impact.
As you will see, each chapter also includes two study options:
For Personal Reflection questions to help you internalize the
principles shared. Discuss during your small group, or encourage
students to study at home on their own (depending upon time
For Group Discussion questions are intended for use in a Sunday
school, small group, or home group setting. Approach your church's
leaders about starting a small group, or start a group on your own,
using the principles and tools provided in the chapters. In both
question sections, you will see space for writing. Please write in this
