One of the key sources of Mel Gibson's film, The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the record of the visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824), a German nun who displayed the stigmata. Her narrative of the crucifixion is both more violent and detailed than the version recorded in the Gospels. Influenced by Medieval depictions of the Passion, Emmerichs version is both disturbing and beautiful. Discover the source of the controversy for yourself.
-Publisher

Faithful to the Bible story of the Passion and death of Jesus, it fills in many details and is edifying and inspiring beyond belief. It will melt a heart of stone. This book is the best on the Passion we have seen. It is also wonderful on the Blessed Mother's role in our redemption. Includes a short biography of Sr. Emmerich.
