The stirring account of the ministry of Edmund John should be read by all Christians who want to see their church go ahead. The description of his extraordinary healing ministry shows what is available to those who have the vision and who will pay the price. The price is repentance, fasting and sacrificial prayer. His own total commitment was a factor, I believe, in his own life span being shortened but which enabled the healing blessing of God to be so abundantly demonstrated. It reads like the twenty-ninth chapter of the Acts of the Apostles. (Canon Jim Glennon, St Andrew's Cathedral Healing Ministry)Introduction to the English edition, by Marjory Stanway:'In 1980 the Central Tanganyika Press forwarded two copies of the book Edmund John, Mtu wa Mungu to Alfred and me. We each read a copy eagerly with great interest and appreciation and wished we could share the inspiration of Edmund's unique ministry with our friends, and especially with those who were interested in the healing ministry. The language barrier needed to be overcome, so I decided to make a rather literal translation from the Swahili into English ... I wrote to Mr Namata to seek his permission to produce an English translation of his book ... add maps ... [and] an introductory chapter on the background of the Church of the Province of Tanzania ...Mr Namata has graciously agreed to these additions and has allowed me to omit a few sections from the original book which I considered not so relevant to English readers. I have also made a few personal additions from letters written to us about Edmund John and, where this has been done, it is acknowledged in the text.'
