In Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Colin Gunton uses each chapter to address a topic of central importance within trinitarian theology, thus leading the reader towards a deeper appreciation of the beauty and structure of trinitarian doctrine. Throughout this discussion Christology, soteriology, metaphors of atonement and sacrifice and other themes characteristic of his previous work are all explored with a view to increasing understanding and delight. Made up almost entirely of previously unpublished material compiled shortly before Professor Gunton's death, this is a wide-ranging, vigorously argued collection. Typically of his writing, it encompasses both practical and theoretical aspects of this central Christian tenet. Book jacket.
