Thomas Blackshear II's highly awarded work has appeared in several art annuals, "National Georgraphic," and elsewhere. His 28 portraits of famous black Americans, commissioned by the U.S. Postal Service, were published in the 1992 commemorative book, "I Have a Dream," and 19 of the paintings have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute. The artist left his successful secular career in illustration to devote his life to God's purposes and to painting, as he says, "just for the joy of it." Soon God brought him to "The MasterPeace Collection," a division of DaySpring Cards. Other Blackshear paintings in this growing collection by a select group of artists include "Watchers in the NIght" and "Coat of Many Colors, Lord of All."

Centered on Thomas Blackshear II's eponymous painting, this devotional gift book explores the topic of forgiveness-a subject fundamental to Christian belief. In each chapter, Roy Lessin presents a specific aspect from
Blackshear's painting, a relevant selection of Bible verses, and a prayer.
Finally, he offers a reflection based upon a truth revealed in both the scripture and the painting.
FORGIVEN focuses on twelve key concepts in all, including grace, holiness, darkness, guilt, strength, and redemption. Each chapter supports Lessin's affirmation that forgiveness is one of the greatest joys, and one of the most profound gifts, that we can experience.
