This engaging book presents the first assessment of the Clinton impeachment process from a religious perspective, a current issue that can be used as a challenging case study in courses in ethics, religion, and political science. The volume includes the recent "Declaration concerning Religion, Ethics, and the Crisis in the Clinton Presidency", a statement signed by nearly 200 scholars of religion and public life, together with a selection of critical essays by such figures as Jean Bethke Elshtain, Max Stackhouse, Stanley Hauerwas, Robert Jewett, and Don Browning. The book also includes rejoinders to the Declaration by Donald and Peggy Shriver, Lewis Smedes, and Nicholas Wolterstorff; political commentary by Stephen Carter, Andrew Sullivan, and Shelby Steele; and transcripts of President Clinton's speeches related to the issue.
