Andersen graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine has served as the chairman of the department of pediatrics at both the Elmhurst Clinic and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and the American College of Pediatricians (ACP). The Consumers Research Council of America, based in Washington, D.C., recently named him one of Americas Top Pediatricians for 2004–2005 and again for 2005–2006.
