"Faithful, feisty, pragmatic, and unfailingly pastoral, Warren explores the depths with a light and humble touch, prompted by Stanley's gentle and skilful questions ... With additional comments from four people in the pews, the four-part course gathers such momentum that by the third session, nearly every line hits home." (Church Times review)
Witnesses to a single event often give contrasting reports. When the event is God's coming to this world as a child it is not just fascinating, it is highly instructive. It opens our eyes not only to what God is like, but to how life can be lived to the full. This course explores the 'reports' of Luke, John, Mary and Paul. In doing so it engages with the distinctive nature of Christian spirituality and how we can give expression to it in our lives, thus living the light of Christ's coming.
Session (1) Luke's reporting of the coming of Christ
Session (2) John's reflections on the coming of Christ
Session (3) Mary's response to the coming of Christ
Session (4) Paul rejoices in the coming of Christ
Rob Warren became a Christian in 1972 after reading a Gideons Bible in the YMCA (Montreal Canada). He was later to graduate from Faith Bible College (New Zealand) and served on short term mission trips into Tonga and Fiji.Rob's professional career as a chemist has spanned the pharmaceutical and natural product industries, where he has been involved in technical management, marine research, quality assurance, consulting and government. He has authored numerous scientific and technical papers including a co-authored book with the CSIRO entitled Eucalyptus Leaf Oils. He worked briefly as a researcher with the Australian Geographic magazine where he wrote short scientific news articles. Nowadays, he writes regularly for Alive magazine.Rob has taken up the call to service, often travelling throughout the South Pacific region promoting the concept of National Forgiveness Week. This week serves to remind people of their ongoing need to forgive and to seek forgiveness for sins and offences.
He has authored two other Christian books - Summer Showers and Cactus Flowers (a book of poetry and song) and When Angry Hearts Forgive (which deals with heartfelt forgiveness). This latter title, he says, is foundational to the concepts and ideas presented in this book, for all Christians must learn to walk humbly with a forgiving attitude glowing in their hearts.
Together with his beloved wife Helen, and their two precious children Anna and Tim, Rob resides in Sydney Australia.
