Preaching Hosea, Amos, and Micah helps preachers unlock the potential of these powerful texts and helps them learn how to overcome the problems of preaching from ancient scripture. In addition to issues of social justice, most closely associated with the Minor Prophets, Preaching Hosea, Amos, and Micah demonstrates that these books address many kinds of issues facing today's Christians, including modern-day idolatry, pastoral care, intercession, evangelism, and christology. The prophets articulate hope and help people to reflect on the nature of God. For each of the three prophets, Charles Aaron provides a brief introduction designed to help the preacher get into the books quickly. He explores selected texts, providing a detailed exegesis and discussion of the problems and possibilities in preaching from the text, and also how the final redaction of the books influence our theology and preaching. Aaron takes seriously the use of metaphors by the prophets and explores the metaphors' influence on preaching and theology. For each text discussed, Aaron offers at least two sermons, one preached by Aaron and the other or others from pastors and professors from the United States and Canada.
