George Baillie Duncan (1912-1997) was a renowned preacher and author. He was born to missionary parents in India in 1912, and did his degree at Edinburgh University, followed by study for the ministry at Tyndale Hall, Bristol. He was ordained in 1937 in the Church of Scotland, and during a four decade ministry pastored churches in Carlisle, Edinburgh, Troon, and Glasgow, with a stint in London in the 1950s. From 1947, Duncan was a speaker at the famous Keswick Convention and for many years was the Chairman and President of the Movement for World Evangelization. He retired from the pastoral ministry in 1977, and was an active member of the Edinburgh Barclay Church till his death in 1997
