^^^The world is wealthier than ever, yet poverty persists.
^ ^Despite huge advancements in medicine, there are still millions dying from curable or preventable diseases.
^ ^And even though there are more Christian workers and missionaries than ever before, divorce, abuse, addictions, and pain are still reality for millions.
^ ^The world is hurting and in need of hope and healing. We have seen that the next generation believer has an increasing passion to change their world.
^ ^We want to encourage that passion by giving real life stories of how to reach out to the poor and hurting.
^ ^We illustrate how a collection of individuals who are surrendered to Christ can truly make a difference in the world. We want to show others the need for a revolution in serving, SERVOLUTION,^ ^in their community and how they can start one.
^ ^The challenge points at the end of each chapter helps readers harness their faith and get down to the business of giving hope to a hurting world by starting their own SERVOLUTION.
^ ^The book highlights several personal testimonies of lives changed and lessons learned.
^ ^It includes many of the outrageous stories from efforts at Healing Place Church to reach out to its community. The book discuss the impact that they had on the community and the valuable influence that helped them do even more to reach out to those in need.
^ ^What God is doing at Healing Place Church is far beyond anything that could have done by people on their own.
^ ^As such, it is a story that needs to be told
^ ^The author hopes that sharing the Healing Place journey will inspire others to roll up their sleeves and work to make it hard for people to die lost in their communities.
^ ^And through strong relationships with others, we believe that together we can do the same all over the world.
^ ^Through simply loving, caring, giving and embracing a hurting world, doors are opened to pour in God's love. This is what we're calling a "servolution."
^ ^A revolution ignited by serving those no one wants to serve, doing the outreaches that are too diificult or too lowly, and loving those that feel like they are unlovable.
^ ^It is our story – doing all we can to serve people in the style of Jesus when he washed the feet of his disciples.
^ ^The book shares stories from the author's church's own servolution, coupled with practical guidelines and tips, and relaying what God has taught along the way. Dino shares the good, the bad and the ugly – not just the celebrations, but also the "uh-oh's" and the "oh no's."
^ ^Any person, pastor or church can be a part of a servolution by simply serving people with no strings attached.
^ ^The book tells a story that has never been told in the way this one is told.
^ ^Reaching out to the poor and hurting is not a new concept - it is one of Jesus' mandates for every believer.
^ ^However, the servolution God has allowed at Healing Place is truly unique and a positive addition to great works already published concerning outreach.
^ ^Who thought that people would encounter Jesus Christ as a result of being given rat bait? ^ ^How powerful is the combination of free lingerie and the love of our Savior? ^ ^What miracles can happen when you agree to perform weddings for unsaved people that every other church turned away? ^ ^What is the connection between an African community of rejected citizens in Nkobe, Mozambique and Donaldsonville, Louisianaboth home to poverty beyond measure?<<ul> ^ ^The answers to these questions and others like them make this book unique.
^ ^God will bless His people to be a blessing to others.
^ ^We get to testify about it and add to our testimony some knowledge gained from practical experiences and thus provide the readers with some ideas and the inspiration to pursue their own servolution.
'Servolution is a must-read. It is inspirational. It is practical. And it has the potential to revolutionize your life.' Mark Batterson ---Lead Pastor, National Community Church A movement is rumbling through the body of Christ---a revolutionary army of people giving hope to a hurting world through practical, personal acts of service. In Servolution, Dino Rizzo shares the story of his relentless pursuit of ways to bless the lost, poor, and hurting people of his community in Jesus' name. You'll be amazed and inspired by the incredible ways God has used Healing Place Church to meet the needs of thousands of people. Each chapter includes practical suggestions and resources for use in any church. Be encouraged by the testimony of how God's Spirit can use a simple passion to serve to revolutionize your approach to ministry. Wherever you are and whatever your gifts, you can play a vital role in this revolution through serving.
Dino and his wife DeLynn started Healing Place Church in 1993 with the single focus of being a healing place for a hurting world. Starting with just twelve, it has now grown to over 6,000 people gathering every weekend in 18 services in 11 locations from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Maputo, Mozambique.
For two consecutive years, Healing Place Church has been listed as one of Americas Top 25 Most Innovative Churches. That innovative drive is expressed in a passion to serve the poor and hurting – wherever they are, and whatever it takes. Every week hundreds of volunteers serve in outreaches – cooking hot breakfasts for the homeless, helping ex-prisoners re-enter society, caring for AIDS orphans, giving roses to ladies working at local strip clubs, and reaching the poor through free medical and dental clinics and many other outreaches.
His new book, Servolution, exposes his passion to see believers join together in a revolution of serving others. He has spoken at several national conferences and has taught leaders and pastors all over the world to serve how Jesus served. His heart inspires the body of Christ to act with bold love as they step out of their comfort zones, abandon their fears, and connect with others of all types and in all places. And in all of it, for Dino Rizzo it is still about reaching the world by serving one – for the glory of God.
