In 1981, Doug Stringer created a business card which read, "Somebody Cares. Call 24 hours a day. 'A true witness rescues lives'(Prov. 14:25)." Doug soon formed relationships with other Houston-area ministries and churches and, together, they developed joint outreachs including prayer drives, holiday street feeds and benevolence assistance. Thus, Somebody Cares America was born. Because Jesus cares, we, the Church must care and be proactive in showing the world that we care. Stringer shows how many communities are now being transformed, and how the Church can unite across cultural, racial and denominational lines to serve our neighbors and draw them into the Body of Christ.
Doug Stringer is the founder and director of Turning Point, an international ministry of evangelism and discipleship. He is also the founder of of Somebody Cares America.
