We live in turbulent times. On an almost-daily basis we are confronted with news headlines of terrorist activity, referred to by some world leaders as "unconventional warfare operated by adaptive adversaries." We in the church have long been familiar with the struggle against the powers of darkness but now, along with the spiritual conflict and age-old difficulties in taking the Gospel out into the world, we face new challenges that see the church competing for relevance and visibility on a global scale. Leaders within the church and para-church organisations are now called upon to think differently, to create long-term strategic plans and communicate a compelling vision within the organisations and churches they lead.
