Contemporary culture is fascinated with spirituality but has a hard time grasping its truth. As a result, people too often find themselves looking for the deeper meaning of life in a vast range of futile pursuits. This book presents a complete overview of spirituality, beginning with the rich heritage of the ancient church and continuing through to the impact of true Christian spirituality on life today. Drawing on examples from the miracles of Jesus to the plays of Shakespeare, Francis Schaeffer to Eubie Blake, Copernican astronomy to the 1973 oil embargo, this wide-ranging narrative has a relaxed, friendly style. Yet it equips readers to develop their own spirituality with clarity and confidence.
