Here Dr Lloyd-Jones shows how in Jesus, and particularly in his death, God was carrying out a promise made at the dawn of human history. He was making it possible for imperfect people to have a personal relationship with their perfect Creator.
"Superficial views of the work of Christ produce superficial human lives." Martyn Lloyd-Jones ^Ever since his first sermon in 1925, Martyn Lloyd-Jones consistently emphasized the significance of Christ's sacrifice for our sake. ^This new collection of sermons reveals this theme in Lloyd-Jones' classic expository style, showing his gift for combining a warm, personal devotion to Jesus Christ with deep theological insight. His grasp of Scripture still causes the maturest believer to ponder, yet he brings a simplicity of thought to his preaching that even a child can understand and enjoy. ^The Cross explains how Christ's crucifixion works for our redemption, and why this even is the cornerstone of the Christian life. ^From one of this century's greatest preachers, excellent reading for ministers and anyone seeking a closer walk with Christ. Meditative, easily understandable, and biblically sound.
John 3:16 has often been called "the heart of the Bible" and "the gospel in miniature." It especially expresses the true meaning of Christmas--the reason Jesus came into this world. Consider these simple, powerful words:GOD the greatest Lover SO LOVED the greatest degree THE WORLD the greatest number THAT HE GAVE the greatest act HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON the greatest Gift THAT WHOSOEVER the greatest invitation BELIEVETH the greatest simplicity IN HIM the greatest Person SHOULD NOT PERISH the greatest deliverance BUT the greatest difference HAVE the greatest certainty EVERLASTING LIFE the greatest possession"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16This Christmas receive the greatest Gift there is--a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He will give you forgiveness of sins, joy beyond measure, and eternal life with God in Heaven. To receive the greatest Gift, simply confess that "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9).If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior and would like additional literature to help you grow as a Christian, please fill out the information below to tell us of your decision.
Born in Cardiff, Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981) was a practicing physician until leaving medicine to become the minister of a Welsh Presbyterian Church.
Minister of Westminster Chapel and co-founder of both InterVarsity Fellowship and the Banner of Truth Trust, this brilliant Welshman was arguably the greatest evangelical preacher of the 20th century.
Best remembered for the power of his sermons in an age of spiritual decline and apathy, Dr Lloyd-Jones exercised his formidable intellect in the service of a thoroughly biblical faith, inspiring his contemporaries to think through the implications of their beliefs for both Church and world.
Dr Lloyd-Jones never tired of calling the Church to revival, to foundational doctrines and to a prayerful zeal for authentic apostolic experience. His rich legacy of recorded and published sermons continues to be used by God to transform lives today.
