"I'm not saying for a minute that we have it all together. We haven't. We are just an ordinary family, just like yours; but wouldn't you agree with me that at the moment marriage is under so much strain and pressure. Some first world nations even call it old fashioned. We know, however, that the sanctity of marriage was, and still is, God's idea. Of course, when the marriage is suffering, it works its way through the whole family. I believe that it is the devil's main objective to destroy the family unit. After all, a nation is only as strong as the family unit." - Angus Buchan
The Sanctity of Marriage - Genesis 2:18: And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." Marriage was and still is God's idea. The marriage union is the closest relationship that we can have with another person on this earth. It is also a sacred covenant and that's why we need to protect it.
One Flesh - Genesis 2:24: Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Men and women could not be more differently made, not to mention coming from different backgrounds and with different personalities. But we know that it is God's good intention that the two individuals become one flesh through marriage.
Order in the Home - There is no such thing as a perfect marriage, but when we do it God's way, it brings order in the home. It brings security to our children and peace in our homes. They say "it takes two to make a marriage a success but only one to make it a failure." A godly marriage takes perseverance from both the husband and the wife.
