Michael Banner

Michael Banner (D.Phil., Oxford) is an ordained Anglican priest, and is Dean of Trinity College, Cambridge having previous served as Director of the ESRC Genomics Research Program and F.D. Maurice Professor of Moral and Social Theology at King's College, London.


He has been active on various government commissions, from 1998 to 2006 he also chaired the Home Office's Animal Procedures Committee. He has been a member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution and of the Agriculture and Environment Biotechnology Commission.


He is the author of The Justification of Science and The Rationality of Religious Belief (Oxford University Press, 1992); The Practice of Abortion: A Critique (Darton, Longman and Todd, 1999); Christian Ethics and Contemporary Moral Problems (Cambridge University Press, 1999);The Doctrine of God and Theological Ethics, ed.
