"In this defining work distinguished physicist-turned-theologian John Polkinghorne presents a reasoned account of the Christian view of the world. Drawing from his own experiences as a scientist and theologian. Polkinghorne argues that Christianity presents a credible and compelling worldview that must be taken seriously even while fully recognizing the importance of science. Polkinghorne summarizes and comments on three views of the world - scientific, personal, and religious - and then demonstrates how studying the New Testament is similar to observational science, namely because the New Testament can be understood only by interpreting available evidence in ways that are sensible and consistent."--BOOK JACKET.
