She is worth far more than rubies. What a description to live up to! And yet this is what the modern day business woman and work at home mum is worth to her family. Women today crave to return home to care for their families and use their skills to contribute to the household income and yet so many feel it eludes them.
Kathie gives women permission to return home and shares with the reader how she did exactly that, bringing up her family of 5 daughters, while establishing a new industry in Australia, using skills she'd developed in the corporate world for over 20 years. She believes that women the world over can do what their ancestors did - work at home and care for the family, returning to old-fashioned values and using modern day skills.
Concern for the welfare of our children and what they are exposed to, plus escalating costs of childcare makes this book, sub-titled The Value of a Work From Home Mum a 'must read' for all mothers who desire to be home for their families and work at home.
Kathie M. Thomas married Graham in 1991, combining their family of 5 wonderful daughters. The family relocated to Melbourne shortly after their marriage where the girls have grown up. Kathie founded the Virtual Assistant industry in Australia in 1996 two years after she started her business to be at home with their girls. She had always wanted to work at home and be there for their daughters and when the Internet entered the business scene it totally changed the direction of her business. Before she knew it she became mentor and motivator for women around the world who wanted to work at home. Today she manages a Virtual Assistant Network which spans many countries as well as coaching and mentoring and is also a speaker and author. Kathie discovered a love for writing as a small child in school which has taken many forms: poetry, songs, articles, stories, and 'how-to' business books including Worth More Than Rubies: The Value of a Work From Home Mum.
