Meet the Author
Lois Gladys Leppard
Lois began her first Mandie story when she was only 11 years old. But eventually the manuscript was tucked away in a drawer and forgotten. Lois went on to attend Furman University and studied music for several years in New York City where she and her sister sang professionally. Some years ago, Lois was prompted to pull that old manuscript out and began to work on Mandie's story - of her childhood in the South at the turn of the century and her Cherokee heritage. The rest is history - and now the Mandie books series have sales nearing six million copies! Lois writes from her home in South Carolina. Enthusiastic young fans fill her mailbox with their insightful responses to her stories. - Publisher.

We discovered the Mandie books through a close friend at Church, as I was finding it challenging to find books which were appealing to my daughter, but also reflected our Christian values - a lot of what is out there is simply not what I want my children to be absorbing and thinking it is acceptable! I bought this for my daughter for her 8th Birthday, as she had read the first 3 collections through the Library at her Christian School. She really enjoyed it, and couldn't put it down (as with the others!). It combines adventure and family life, all with Christian values unpinning it all. The books are set at the turn of the 19th Century in America, so also offers a look into the past. I would recommend them to all who mindful of what their children read, especially in the increasingly secular society we find ourselves in. Side note: if you would like Christian fictionbooks such as these stocked at your local council library, please request them. I have found that our local library is prepared to purchase them if they are unable to source them through the libraries in our areaon their database. There is a limit to 3 books people are able to request every 36 months or so, and I realise every librarycouncil is different, so the rules might vary depending on the area in which you live, but I honestly believe it is a valuable ministry
