A Tough but Colourful Life
4 stars By David Bennett, Aug 03 2016
Peter Pearson, a retired Salvation Army officer from Australia, tells the story of his remarkable life with plenty of colour. He spent his early years on a sheep and cattle property in New South Wales and later worked on properties in the Northern Territory and New Zealand. He became a Christian, joined The Salvation Army and became an officer, eventually rising to the rank of Major. He and his wife served with the Salvos at numerous appointments in different states. His book is anecdotal, but many of those anecdotes are dramatic and, as the title of the book indicates, are "Blood and Guts" stories. They are not always pleasant, but many do show the power of Christ to change lives. It is a book well worth reading. Thank God for the Salvos.
