Medieval drama and romance
4 stars By Hannah, Jun 20 2016
After being intrigued (by the story) but slightly nauseated (by the gruesome torture scenes) with the first book of this series, I debated reading this one for a while before hesitantly starting. I needn't have hesitated. I loved it, from the first page, especially the relationship and the banter back and forth between the two main characters. There was description of medieval torture but far less than the first book, thankfully!

The only thing I did find frustrating was the constant switching back and forth between the two main characters - both told in first person. It occasionally took a few paragraphs to figure out who was telling the story.

All in all, though, a really delightful story with great descriptions of medieval life, love and the strength of family - both blood and those we choose for ourselves. Definitely a book I'll enjoy reading again.
