About "A Fresh Start"

Isn't being good good enough? How can God love me? Can I really believe the Bible is true? This modern Australian classic explains simply how anyone may enter into new life with God through friendship with Jesus.
- Koorong

One of Australia's foremost evangelists, John Chapman, introduces us with clarity and simplicity to the Jesus he has loved and served for over 50 years. He explains what a Christian is, how to become a Christian and how to begin a new life through Jesus. As a general purpose evangelistic book for giving away, A Fresh Start still has few peers. The book has four parts. Part 1 deals with God's solution to our problem. It assumes the existence of God, that Jesus Christ is God's unique Son, and that the Bible gives accurate information about God. Part 2 is written for those who are uncertain about God's existence and whether Jesus was God's Son. It also sets out to show that the New Testament histories about Jesus are reliable and that the Bible does give us accurate information about God. Part 3 deals with the serious responsibilityof responding to God in his way rather than your own way. Part 4 sets out in detail what we need to do to become Christians, and how we can be sure we are Christians.

Probably the best-selling Australian Christian book of our generation John Chapman's clear, persuasive and engaging presentation of the news of Jesus is as fresh, and readable as ever. The book gives a straightforward explanation of our problem before God, his solution how we can know it is all true, and what we should do about it. This rightly remains at the top of the list of books to give to non-Christian friends and colleagues.

Funny and relatable way to treat a lifesaving topic
4 stars By Amy Darragh, Jun 13 2017
Chapman's book is easy to relate to, he writes in a conversational tone. Chapman shows a deep love of God in his writing. The book is enjoyable using the story teller technique, to demonstrate his point and examples.

Chapman writes his book in the first person and builds up his creditably, background and experience for the reader. Chapman sprinkles his humour though out the book an example is when Chapman describes how he has given up closing his eyes while praying, especially while driving.

Chapman gives practical advice to the new Christian. Chapman is honest in how Christian life works. He offers guidance on Bible study, praying, the Holy Spirit and how to find a church to attend.

My favourite 'Chapman live it like a Christian story' is this "Sometimes I read a few chapters and at other times just a few verses." In this one sentence, Chapman understands my busy life. While I am a keen new Christian, sometimes I just don't have as much time for the Bible as I would like. It is reassuring to know that others are in the same position.

The book was easy to read, it was enjoyable, and I would recommend it.
