- Koorong

Born into affluence, Mia Stanley is a winsome socialite with a knack for matchmaking. She's also a writer for Godey's Lady's Book magazine, much to the disdain of her family--and their society friends. A proper young lady of her social standing isn't meant to labor in such a way, but Mia has always had a way with words...

When her writing draws her into the world of downtrodden seamen's wives on Philadelphia's docks, Mia uncovers a scheme that puts her in harm's way. But her heart ends up on the line as well...Has her determination to always make a match driven away the one man whose esteem she covets?

Historical romance
3 stars By Hannah, Nov 24 2015
This was a sweet romance and a good reminder of how important every life is, no matter what age or social standing a person may be, and of the importance of caring for those who cannot care for themselves. I'll admit, the lack of communication between the two main characters who are in love but won't talk to each other was frustrating but not enough to ruin the whole story. Intrigued to read more from this author.

Dismal Narration
2 stars By sarah, Mar 11 2015
Having previously seen this story in paperback form a few years ago, I was interested when the audiobook version was released to finally read it. Unfortunately, the narrator was awful at portraying any male characters, adopting the same tone and lacklustre voice for each one. This put me off to the point where I could not continue reading the story.

Skip this on audio and try the ebook or paperback version instead.

I have learnt to listen to a sample of all audiobooks before buying them now. I recommend others do this too.

Slightly dissapointing
3 stars By Kimberly, Apr 28 2010
After reading "Lady of Hidden Intent" (which i did enjoy, but was still a bit predictable) I was slightly dissapointed by "Lady of High Regard". I found it quite predictable and a little bit TOO sweet. There are a few memorable scenes, but I think I would definitely say there was too much DRAMA for me!! However, although I didn't take a liking to this particular novel, I DO enjoy many of Tracie Peterson's others. I think maybe this was a one-off. Please dont let this review put you off reading Peterson, but if you dont like predictability, maybe this book isn't very good for you.
