New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers (born 1947) began her literary career at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and journalism. This retelling of the biblical story of Gomer and Hosea, set during the time of the California Gold Rush, is now considered by many to be a classic work of Christian fiction. The popularity of Redeeming Love continues unabated over a quarter of a century after its publication.

Since Redeeming Love, Francine has published numerous novels with Christian themes - all best sellers. The Last Sin Eater, earned her the CBA Gold Medal award and has since been made into a feature film - She has continued to win both industry acclaim and reader loyalty around the globe. Francine and her husband, Rick, live in northern California and enjoy time spent with their three grown children and taking every opportunity to spoil their grandchildren. Francine uses her writing to draw closer to the Lord, and she desires that through her work she might worship and praise Jesus for all He has done and is doing in her life.

I absolutely loved this book and I plan on reading it again someday! I read the reviews and that made me want to read it. I didn't know what to expect when I started to read about Hadassah a loving gentle, obident girl who turns into a beautiful women inside and out. I was intrigued from the start to the finish, I enjoyed reading the changes in Marcus. Set in the roman ancient times when the rich had slaves, like today its easy to get caught up in worldly and material things and this book tells you want happens when you don't have God in your life or worship the wrong God amongst other things too. Found it very hard to put down a must read!

Amazing!
5 stars By Destiny, Oct 04 2016
This book without a doubt deserves a 10 star rating. I have read this book 2 times and every time I have not been able to do anything else! This book is extremely captivating and is an eye opening perspective of life in Rome for Jewish Christians not long after Jesus' death. Deeply moving as the reality of Christian martyrdom is woven between the pages, bringing the realization that so many people died for their faith. A little tip of advice, make sure you have the next book in the series close by because you'll want to jump straight into it!

Enthralling
5 stars By Em Kay, Sep 03 2016
Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow! As someone who is weary of reading historical fictions due to them being simple but at the same time who has been exposed to the wonderful writing of the author of this book - Francine Rivers - I wasn't sure what to expect. But true to the brilliant writing of this wonderful author, I needn't have had any doubts.
The research she has put into this book is nothing short of amazing - she weaves all the articulate details in so that the reader is taken deep into the world of Rome in 69 AD and immersed in what their culture was. Courage is the main theme of the book which centres around the main character Hadassah whose plight is to remain true to God in a time period that was completely depraved and abhorrent whilst serving as a slave in a roman household. I have never met a character like her before and may not meet one like her again. What a heroine she was! And not in your typical fashion either. You won't regret reading this book for one second!
