Hardback
The original Basics of Biblical Greek offered instructors, students, self-learners, and home schoolers an entirely new, integrated approach to teaching and learning New Testament Greek. This third edition continues in that tradition, making use of feedback from professors, students, and home schooling moms and dads. BBG makes learning Greek a natural process, and shows from the start how an understanding of Greek helps in understanding the New Testament.

First published in 1993, Basics of Biblical Greek is the most popular introduction to the field, used in universities and seminaries around the world. Over 200,000 students have learned biblical Greek under its guidance. This significant third edition has been carefully developed in consultation with instructors, students, self-learners, and homeschoolers.

Users can now take advantage to the many improvements made at the book's website, www.Teknia.com, where they will find - for free - an online course, walking students through every chapter; vocabulary flashcards; video and audio helps; Greek fonts; quizzes for each chapter; fun songs and games; and much, much more.

Now in a larger size, with an attractive 2-color design, the third edition adds an element of fun, with encouragement, songs, and more, which appear in the margins. Chapter 35 has been split into two chapters, "half-time review" sections have been added to every chapter, and new exegesis sections are now included. These and other improvements serve to enhance the learning experience and will continue BBG's legacy as the premier introduction to biblical Greek.

Best Greek Textbook Ever
5 stars By Eric, Apr 03 2017
William Mounce is renown for having taught scores of Christians Koine Greek throughout the years and Basics of Biblical Greek has been the standard textbook for collegeseminary students and individual learners who have graduated from a gentler introductory book such as Greek for the Rest of Us. If you've already attained a passing familiarity with Koine Greek and are able to spot different words on sight and are familiar with a couple of tenses then this is the book you will need on your shelf for the rest of your Christian life. It's not a book for beginners but someone who has studied linguistics andor other languages could jump in and buy this from the get go and use it as an introduction to Koine Greek but most beginners will start with a text that doesn't introduce everything in the language. This book covers all tenses and if you get through it twice you'll be more familiar with Koine Greek than most pastors I dare say. Definitely recommend this book but if it's your first foray into biblical Greek you might want to start with his other book Greek for the Rest of Us and then graduate to this one. If you're a seminary student or about to be one, go ahead and buy this book now as you'll need it. Highly recommended.

A fine textbook
4 stars By MTS, May 02 2013
This is a great resource for learning Koine Greek, which, as a previous reviewer has said, will work well for both classroom learning and self-study. It is clearly and logically structured, and gives the student the option of pursuing two different 'tracks' so that there is the opportunity to tackle verbs much earlier on in the process than the first edition allowed. I found this useful as verbs are really the heart of the language and enable you to get a feel for the language early on. The workbook also helps in this regard as translation and practice is what really helps one learn. The third edition is larger than previous editions with more margin space for note-taking as well as extra study tips. Apart from that the only major difference from previous editions is that the last chapter has been split into two to aid clarity. The only real weakness of the book is his understanding of the verbal system which I find to be inadequate in some regards, so I would recommend reading Con Campbell's work on verbal aspect and Carl Conrad on voice in order to offer some newer and more nuanced perspectives.

Excellent for Greek newbies
5 stars By Vicki, Dec 19 2012
While used as the set text for many New Testament Greek courses, this book can also be used for self-study in conjunction with the companion workbook. The grammar is well-planned, allowing you to begin translation work very early on to keep things interesting. A comprehensive index and many appendices of various rules and charts allows quick reference. Each chapter begins with a useful exegetical insight that shows how the particular grammatical focus of the chapter is important in translation. Since completing a Greek course I have constantly referred back to this text to refresh my memory and follow up on more advanced material.
