Teams are difficult to create. They are tough to motivate and even more challenging to lead. They can inspire greatness but also can be filled with pettiness. They can come together quickly but can splinter apart even faster. "It's time for someone to write about the truth of team building," says author Stephen A. Macchia. In Becoming a Healthy Team, Macchia discusses the characteristics that produce intimacy, authenticity, and effectiveness in a team and lead to the team's vitality. TEAMS spells out Trust, Empowerment, Assimilation, Management, and Service-the five traits of a healthy team. With biblical guidance throughout and questions for reflection at the end of each chapter, Macchia has created a valuable team-building resource perfect for pastors, ministry leaders, and anyone involved in a leadership role.

"Small teams, big teams - all face big challenges. No one addresses those challenges more biblically, clearly, realistically, or helpfully than Stephen Macchia. If you''re part of any ministry team, don''t skip this book."--Larry Crabb, founder, New Way Ministries"Of the many ways of being ''great,'' team ''greatness'' is one of the least explored and understood. Macchia''s approach to building a great team is a major contribution to the literature."--Leonard Sweet, Drew University, George Fox Evangelical Seminary, preachingplus.com"My good friend, Steve Macchia, has hit another home run with Becoming a Healthy Team. Winning teams have discovered that intimacy with God must be the first priority. Steve has written a compelling and engaging book that will cause team leaders to re-think how they lead. Steve has lead many successful organizations and teams in large-scale fruitful events. He is widely respected by his team members and is one of the most well-read individuals I know on the important subject of effective leadership. This is a must read for leaders who aspire to build a biblical Spirit-led team."--Luis Palau, world-renowned evangelist and author of High Definition Life"Stephen Macchia writes enthusiastically and cogently about the potential of ''teams'' to bring new life to churches...teams in which participants share a common mission, honor Jesus Christ, accomplish meaningful ministry, and anticipate transformative results. Writing from many years of experience as a pastor, teacher, and church consultant, the author reminds readers that the top priorities of such teams are to experience intimacy with God, and to build intimacy and authenticity in community with the family of God. If you would like to see the focus of church teams and committees shift from ''churchianity'' to Christianity, this is an important book for you to read."--George H. Gallup, Jr., founding chairman of the George H. Gallup International Institute"If team ''health'' is present, everything works. If it isn''t, eventually nothing does. Steve Macchia has focused this fundamental priority as it impacts so many facets of the local church. Here is the stuff-and again we have reason to say thanks, Steve!"--Rev. Jack Hayford, president, International Church of the Foursquare Gospel"Steve Macchia has produced another winner. Becoming a Healthy Team is a gold mine of solid advice winsomely presented. Its illustrations, very sound directions, and biblical thinking will strike readers as being just what is needed in the Church, the home, workplace, and para-church institutions. I plan to use this handy guide with my leadership team at the seminary as an incentive to increasing the effectiveness of our own work."--Walter C. Kaiser, Jr., president, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"In Becoming a Healthy Team, Steve Macchia has created a one-stop-shop resource for all leaders who care about building teams that last and make a difference."--Jim Mellado, president, Willow Creek Association"This is a book that every group of Christians working together would benefit from reading and studying. Like many other things, Christians should write the good books on Team Building because it has such a clear biblical foundation. Thank you Steve for doing just that!"--Jan Overstreet, president/CEO, Development Associates International"Leading a team is hard enough. Now I have to lead a healthy team? Here''s the bad news: All of us ''natural-born, shoot-from-the-hip'' leaders of teams have it all wrong. We''re deluding ourselves if we think leading a team is easy and requires minimal preparation or prayer. Here''s the good news: Steve Macchia has come to our rescue! The teams we lead will notice an immediate difference and differentiation in our team leadership styles if we use just 10 percent of the practical wisdom and God-honoring principles in Becoming a Healthy Team. I know Steve. I''ve observed him with his teams and he''s the real deal. This book is a keeper."--John Pearson, preside
