Bourne is installment number four in The River Of Time Series. Released as an e-novella, it has been coupled with Tributary, installment number five, which was also released as an e-novella in 2012, to form book four of the series. In Bourne we see things from Lia's perspective for the first time. While the girls and their family grapple with the dangerous decisions they have made, Marcello faces death and Gabi heartbreak as he returns from a routine patrol that almost ended in disaster. Rodolfo adds attitude and danger again and again as he comes to terms with his label of traitor, and struggles to accept the friendship he is offered by Luca, Lia, Gabi and Marcello. The brotherhood is unmasked and danger ensues, along with a mad race to save noble families all over Sienna from an elite team of assassins. Lia and Luca have some intense moments as they figure out whether they have a future, and Lia turns out to be more gutsy in romance than you might have expected. This book follows Luca and Lia's story, as they both attempt to rescue each other, with varying degrees of success, and ends with Gabi, Marcello, Luca and Lia teaming up again in a desperate and hair-raising battle to save Luca's sister's life. Tributary picks up Rodolfo Greco's story with an unexpected beginning, a captive enemy who is not as helpless as she seems, and a desperate situation that causes Rodolfo's heart to begin to thaw. But there is a problem - Lia can't shoot anymore, and the Fiorentini know it! Thinking the she-wolves out the way, the enemy advances and a battle rages for castello Forelli, until the boys realise it was all subterfuge - and the girls are in mortal danger once again! There is action, betrayal, deceit, loyalty, fear, abduction and those pesky elite assassins make another, far more problematic appearance. You won't be able to put this book down once you start. It is a fourth novel which lives up the reputation of the three earlier novels in the series and I am glad it has been published in its own right. This book has my favourite scene of all time in a novel - Lia and Luca's first kiss - and it have read and re-read it so many times I think I could almost quote the beginning. I can't recommend it highly enough - this book is a must read!
