Enjoyable Reading
5 stars By Candid, Jul 21 2017
This is my first experience of reading any of Lynn Austin's work. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Candle in the Darkness' and the 'Refiner's Fire Series' as a whole! It gives good incite into the American Civil war, and gives wonderful examples on how people are to lean on God. Well worth the read!

Brilliant read
5 stars By Kristy, May 25 2016
Loved this book and the whole series! Lynn Austin is a great writer and this series was just fascinating. It was a great insight into the Civil War and a really interesting probe into slavery from the viewpoint of somebody brought up with slavery as good and accepted. Highly recommended!

War between the states
5 stars By Lisa, Jan 05 2014
If you like Lynn Austin, you have to read this one. I could hardly put it down. This novel offers a brilliant perspective into the American civil war, but beyond that, a black slave named Eli offers such radical truths as he speaks of his trust and faith in his "massa Jesus". Loved it!
