Paperback
With a flair for danger in foreign lands, secret plots among treacherous villains, and spiritual learning through tests of faith, Mary Reeves Bell's Passport to Danger series answers your search for exotic locales and pulse-pounding fiction. Now the third book in the series hits shelves, and you can expect a gripping tale that will keep you turning the pages until the book's thrilling conclusion.^^Checkmate in the Carpathians begins with Constantine Rea and his best friend, Hannah, relaxing during winter break. As part of their vacation, they join Hannah's uncle Aaron Goldberg, U.S. Ambassador to Romania, for two weeks of skiing, chess, and fun. Though he mostly wants to just enjoy himself, Con agrees to do a favor for his old friend Maria Rozstoski and visits her family home, lost during World War II. ^^Con is also supposed to search for descendants of the Jewish family Rozstoski sheltered during the Holocaust, but the once-grand estate has fallen into ruin and is now an overcrowded orphanage. Unsure how to move forward, Con and Hannah take on another assignment-this one from Ambassador Goldberg. Posing as photo-snapping tourists, they attend a neo-Nazi demonstration to obtain any information they can for the embassy. When a riot ensues, however, the two again find themselves in danger and even cornered. Usually they come to each other's rescue-who will save them when they're both trapped?

- Publisher A skiing trip to Romania with the new American ambassador becomes more exciting than they had planned when Constantine Kaye and his friend Helen visit the estate of Con's elderly Viennese neighbor and become involved in a rally of neo-Nazis in Romania.

- Publisher Book 3 in the Passport to Danger! series finds Con and Hannah headed to Romania to visit her uncle. Their trip turns dangerous, though, when they undertake an investigation that sets them against a neo-Nazi movement.
