Many Christians today have come to the faith with little or no church background and therefore haven't had much exposure to basic Christian beliefs. God doesn't call every Christian to go off to seminary, but there are certain matters of doctrine - that is, the church's teaching - that every Christian simply must know. Theology is important because what we believe affects how we live.

If you're a relatively new believer in Jesus, or if you're a more mature Christian looking for a quick brush-up on basics of the faith, CHRISTIAN BELIEFS is for you. This readable guide to twenty basic Christian beliefs is a condensation of Wayne Grudem's award-winning book, Systematic Theology, prized by pastors and teachers everywhere. He and his son, Eliot, have boiled down the essentials of Christian theology for the average layperson and made them both clear to understand and applicable to life. You will learn about the Bible, the characteristics of God, how God created humans in his own image, what God has done for us in Christ, the purpose of the church, and much more. Each chapter includes questions for personal review or group discussion.

These truly are twenty basic beliefs that every Christian should know. Wayne Grudem is a master teacher with the ability to explain profound truths in simple language. He is a man of deep conviction and theological passion - and those who read this book will be both educated and encouraged in the faith.

Suitable as a brief introduction
3 stars By Hoa, Apr 05 2016
Christian Belief's is a summary of the author's own larger systematic theology. It goes through chapter by chapter each main area of Christian doctrine, summarising teaching on each area from a evangelical Reformed perspective. While this book is generally faithful to the Bible, it's greatest weakness is how short it is. There is not much depth to the discussion, and leaves the author wanting more explanation from the Bible. This weakness is also the strength of the book, since it was written as a brief summary, it is suitable for people who want a quick but reliable introduction to the important beliefs of the Christian faith.

Systematic Theology made easy
5 stars By Julz, Apr 18 2013
This book is a condensed version of Wayne Grudem's Bible Doctrine, which is a condensed version of Systematic Theology. Although it is a short book, but it is still deep and biblical, and will particularly help new Christians to know the basics of their faith, as the size is not as daunting as the two parent books. Grateful for this little book!
