Compared to Her...

Sophie De Witt

$13.99

Paperback

"I am a recovering Compulsive Comparison Syndrome sufferer. It causes me to feel envy, despair, pride and superiority. It cuts away at my relationship with God, with my loved ones, and with myself. It has promised me contentment, and yet robbed me of it.
And although I don't know you at all, I'm fairly sure you have CCS, too. That's not meant to sound rude. It's just that I've rarely met a woman who doesn't struggle with it."

This book is about how to spot this syndrome and its effects in your life; the view of life that causes it; how the gospel treats it; and how you can move beyond it to live a life of true, lasting contentment.

Should be an annual read for everyone!
5 stars By Elizabeth, Apr 16 2017
Though De Witt writes clearly and accessibly, she is unafraid to unearth the problems women seem to have with CCS (Compulsive Comparison Syndrome). She invites her readers to first trust her by sharing her own personal fears and thoughts, then reflect with her on the root issue of CCS, and finally apply what we know to how we live. A refreshing read which I would recommend everyone (male OR female) to read annually!

Would recommend to anyone and everyone
4 stars By Helen, Aug 27 2016
A great book for every woman, regardless of age and background. Sophie gives a detailed overview of Compulsive Comparison Syndrome (or CCS) in a way that is funny and easy to read. She highlights ways we can look down or look up at others that I had never previously thought of and can definitely relate to (for e.g. being proud of my own goodness or 'Christian-ness'). She gives us some really practical advice, and continuously points the reader back to Jesus Christ - in Him we find all satisfaction, security and contentment.

A worthwhile read for anybody who is seeking to live a more Christ-like life!

Compared to Her... CCS: Chronic Comparison Syndrome
4 stars By Melissa , Nov 23 2015
I found this book very helpful! It clearly explained CCS or Chronic Comparison Syndrome and why it is an issue many women face. It was an easy read that has lead to great conversation with other women at church. I have recommended it to a number of friends.

A keeper
3 stars By Susan, Nov 23 2015
This book is one of those 'keepers' to be re-read from time to time.
As a pastors wife I have often struggled with CCS.

True contentment is found in the Lord and this book is is a great reminder to me of that!
Sophie de Witt writes in a simple to understand manner with some great humour along the way.

Impactful
4 stars By Bri, Mar 25 2015
I really gained some good insight from reading "compared to her". Usually i only read fiction and am always skeptical of non fiction, however after being encouraged to give it a go I was pleasantly surprised. Sophie really hit on some issues which are evident in daily life. I'm competitive by nature, and just reading through the book and being able to acknowledge within myself the times it's good to be competitive and the times when it's become an issue due to constant comparison has really helped me grow. I've just started to read it for a second time and found it just as relevant.
