Does God Expect Less of Women?

Olive Rogers

$13.99

Paperback

Does God expect less of women? The church certainly did until recently. Christian debate about the role of women has often been a pale reflection of the feminist attempt to gain equality with men in society at large. Quite apart from the fact that we do not feel it necessary to conduct a discussion about the role of men, there are deeper issues underlying the debate. Details of practice often detract from biblical principles. If the biblical terms for the spiritual and practical status of women in both creation and redemption can be established, then the church has a spiritual mandate with which to address the role of women in contemporary Christian life. These seven studies discuss the issue.

Olive Rogers

Miss. Olive Rogers went to India as a G.D.M. missionary to India in November 1949 at the age of 26. Initially she worked with G.D.M. Girls' School as a manager. Later she worked as the principal of a Women's Bible School at Narsapur.

Miss Rogers completed her B.D. with Serampore University and was a very good Bible teacher.
She established Jeevan Jyothi Press at Narsapur to publish literature for Telugu speaking people. She also learned Telugu and preached and taught in Telugu.

One of her amazing contributions was bringing up nine needy girls in Andhra Pradesh, helping them in their studies, getting them married and thus establishing homes for God. Today they carry on her vision and ministry for God. She remained single and never married but maintained a home for people and was mother for many. By serving God and the needy people in this way, she maintained a very unique ministry which challenges many.

After her retirement in 1983, she went back to Bristol, UK where she continued her ministry among international students and Church ministry. She opened her home for international students and was keen on discipling many of them for the Lord. Her ministry for the Lord continued till the night of 15 December 2013 when she went home to be with her Lord.
