Paperback
For anyone who has ever loved a dog against their better judgement... Dogged Optimism is the story of a scruffy little dog and the woman who loves her. Killarney the Aussie terrier is not afraid of anything: big dogs, snakes, cancer. Belinda Pollard is afraid of many things, so Killarney becomes her in-house motivational speaker through grief, job loss and failed romance. If you've ever loved a dog or needed a laugh, you'll be inspired by Killarney's motto: Grab life by the throat and shake every last drop of joy out of it. Wrestle it, if you have to. Praise for Dogged Optimism A delightful read, as much about the ups and downs of owning a wilful dog as facing up to life, especially when it doesn't turn out as expected. Marianne Wheelaghan, The Blue Suitcase Anyone who's ever adored a dog can relate to this evocative, humorous tale. Molly Greene, The Gen Delacourt Mysteries Will charm you with its window into life Down Under and inspire you with its insights into overcoming personal challenges. Dawn Dicker, Writer & Content Strategist A heart-warming tale of one woman's special bond with her four-legged friend. Tanya Arnold, Pupcake Queen Belinda Pollard is an award-winning mystery author and former journalist who used to chuckle about people who treated their pets like children - until it happened to her. Her hobbies now include dog-walking in the rain and watching dog-training videos. She lives in Australia, travels the world (when she can find a good petsitter), and blogs about Real Life on a Beautiful Planet at www.belindapollard.com.

Meet the Author

Belinda Pollard

Belinda Pollard is an award-winning former journalist who loves mountain hiking despite bad knees and a fear of heights. She has been a professional writer/editor for decades, and a contributor to the Closer to God series since 1999. The words "Poison Bay" on a map triggered her journey to the sinister end of the bookshelf. Spooky and remote, it was a location just begging for a mystery. Poison Bay is her first novel, and won a Varuna Publisher Fellowship in 2011. Belinda lives in Brisbane, Australia where she undertakes ball-throwing duties for a dog named Rufus, and turns on the air-conditioning so she can dream of snow...
