This is a book I have read and studied through twice, with almost every page full of highlighted paragraphs, sentences or phrases. Every time I read through the book, it never failed to minister to me the assurance, comfort and joy of God's forgiveness. The author, John Ensor, has written a very helpful and much needed book on how one can experience God's forgiveness. Because of our sin, we are plagued by tremendous guilt. We know we have sinned and fallen short of God's glory and need and desire His forgiveness. The good news is this: God has promised us His forgiveness. He wants us to move from guilt to gladness by seeking and experiencing His forgiveness in and through the atoning sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. God's forgiveness will not only forgive our sins objectively but will also cleanse our stained consciences. Thus forgiven and cleansed, our hearts are made glad. We cannot but forgive those who have hurt us and we desire also to share and spread the good news that God wants to forgive us in and through Christ in our spheres of influence and in the world. Ensor's book is a practical theology of experience forgiveness. It is a must-read for the guilt-ridden and also for priests, pastors and counselors who work with people struggling with guilt and seeking God's forgiveness.
