Ezekiel (Niv Application Commentary Series)

Iain M Duguid

$40.99

Hardback
Properly understood, this mysterious book with its obscure images offers profound comfort to us today. Filled with both an indictment of sin and promise for God's people, it can help us to live, like the ancient Israelites during the Babylonian captivity, as exiles in the foreign country of this world, with endurance and hope. 576 pages, from Zondervan

- Publisher Ezekiel, which is part of the NIV Application Commentary Series, helps readers learn how the message of Ezekiel can have the same powerful impact today that it did when it was first written.

- Publisher Most Bible commentaries take us on a one-way trip from our world to the world of the Bible. But they leave us there, assuming we can somehow make the return journey on our own. In other words, they focus on the original meaning of the passage but don't discuss its contemporary application. The information they offer is valuable -- but the job is only half done! The NIV Application Commentary Series helps us with both halves of the interpretive task. This new and unique series shows readers how to bring an ancient message into a modern context. It explains not only what the Bible meant but also how it can speak powerfully today.

Excellent commentary
5 stars By Hoa, Jun 01 2017
Duguid works through the book of Ezekiel passage by passage, examining the meaning of the original text, interpretive issues and application for today. He shows a variety of approaches to application, sometimes drawn from the content of the passage, other times from the way the passage is written. The diversity is helpful and points out aspects readers may easily miss. Unfortunately at times the application becomes repetitive, but this is understandable given the length of the book of Ezekiel. Overall a highly recommended commentary for anyone reading or teaching Ezekiel.
