Fairly Typical Amish story
3 stars By sarah, Oct 24 2014
I stumbled across an audiobook version of this recently. Having never read one of the authors books before, I thought it was about time I did. It follows the story of a troubled young woman as she learns to forgive and an orphan boy discovering his roots. It follows the typical boy meets girl - girl is smitten by boy formula with a few curveballs thrown in for good measure. However, it is a fairly bland story, with not a lot of depth and a rushed ending. Unless you are an avid amish fiction fan, I would skip this one and try another book from the author instead.

Good Read
3 stars By MichelleB, Aug 26 2012
The second in the Middlefield Family series this book is a much easier read than the first novel. It still contains some confusing aspects, such as the introduction of a new character that seemingly appears from nowhere, but all is explained as you read the story further.

As with the first novel the front of the book contains a short glossary of Amish terms, which you will find smattered throughout the story.

I found the plot to be relatively strong, although like the first novel, I would have preferred to have more of a "back story" to new characters before they are introduced, as not having that back story does upset the flow of the novel.

This novel is supposed to be read as a series and I think would not work as a 'stand alone' book.

Note: I received a digital copy of this book free from the publisher through the booksneeze.com book review bloggers program. I am not required to give a positive review, just an honest one. The opinions expressed are my own.
