Engaging and capitvating
5 stars By Kamya, Mar 24 2017
The debut novel of Michael K Reynold had me totally engaged from the Prologue and I found I was seeking every spare moment to continue on the Hanley siblings' journey. Reynold's captures the unfathomable hardships of those enduring the Irish Potato famine and the choices, or lack thereof, the families had. Shipped off to America, it was still a question of day by day survival but she ultimately finds beautiful people placed in her life, and realises God hasn't abandoned her.

Reynold's writing is just beautiful and I found myself devouring chapter after chapter of this historical fiction. His characters are rich, his prose at times almost poetic. Fortunately, this is the first of a 3-part series and I had "In Golden Splendor" at the ready so I could start the next instalment as soon as I turned the last page of "Flight of the Earls".

Highly recommended reading for lovers of historical fiction
