In the second volume ofThe Aedyn Chronicles, Flight of the Outcasts, noted theologian Alister McGrath brings Peter and Julia back to Aedyn, where the people have forgotten the Lord of Hosts. Learning that their friends have been exiled to a foreign land, Peter and Julia must find the one way to bring them back.

^^It has been almost a year since Peter and Julia first visited the land of Aedyn and, faced with the harsh reality of their father's remarriage and two new horrible stepsiblings, they're beginning to wonder if it was all a dream. As they run away from home one evening, they fall into a half-frozen river and find themselves back in Aedyn - but this time they've accidentally brought along their stepsister Louisa!

^ ^Aedyn is deserted; the people taken captive and forced to work as slaves at the foot of a volcano on a distant island. As Peter and Julia wonder what has happened to their beloved country, a giant falcon appears and takes them to this island, the very place from which the Lord of Hosts saved his people centuries ago. The three children must find a way to save the prisoners and bring them back to Aedyn, but the earth is trembling and the volcano is starting to smoke. They're running out of time.

Better than the First!
4 stars By Matthew Poole, Apr 15 2017
This book can be read without reading the first book but I got more from it having followed it through. Worth getting 1, 2 and 3 all together. This one has the same feel as the first book yet shorter and the pace is a little more relaxed and easy going. There was one element I didn't agree with and it is to do with the character development. However, I can see why its there and has its own symbolism. Well done Professor McGrath with this trilogy. Thank you Koorong

Super Duper
5 stars By Emily, May 30 2016
"Flight of the Outcasts" is the second book in the Aedyn Chronicles. Julia and Peter embark on another adventure, but this time they pull their horrid stepsister, Louisa, along too. In Aedyn, their friends from their last trip were taken prisoner by Gulnogs, huge and hideous beasts. Will Peter, Julia and Louisa be able to set their friends free or will they get caught and become slaves also? This book was so entrancing that I couldn't put it down. The characters flew up off the page and became moving images before my eyes. Great for kids aged 8-14. You must read this book.
