Meet the Artists

Keith Getty

Keith and Kristyn Getty have been writing hymns for more than a decade, bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary, and creating what is described as singable theology. Their songs, many co-written with Stuart Townend, have pioneered a new generation of modern hymns.

The renowned Getty/Townend hymn, "In Christ Alone," has remained the most popular song for congregations throughout the UK for six years, among CCLI's top ten in North America, and has been honored by both the British Hymn Society and BBC Songs of Praise all time lists. Their hymns are sung in small churches, large cathedrals and concert halls around the world, performed by choirs of every description, and have also been recorded by artists throughout the world of music, from country artists Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs, Irish musicians Moya Brenan and Anuna, CCM artists Natalie Grant, Newsboys and Tim Hughes, to Aida's Heather Headley, and a recent online recording by Owl City.

Under the Getty Music label, Keith and Kristyn have recorded two Dove-nominated albums: "In Christ Alone" (2007) and "Awaken the Dawn" (2009). "Joy-An Irish Christmas" (2011), dedicated to their daughter, Eliza Joy, is a collaboration with luminaries from the world of Irish music. Its broad appeal led to a number one radio single, television appearances and specials, and an annual Christmas concert tour in the USA. Additionally, Getty Music has initiated a number of choral works based on each of these projects.

Heartfelt praise from young voices
4 stars By Rachael, Sep 19 2017
I am so excited to hear another album released under the 'Getty Kids Hymnal' title so quickly after the first came out! As a teacher, I love that these songs are presented in a diverse, multi-cultural and new way which engages my young students - and they are taking in lyrics that are deep and rich with theological truth. A beautiful album for any family to listen to regularly.

Review
5 stars By Timothy Yap, Jun 20 2017
"For the Cause" is the second instalment in this series and it's released only a few months after the vanguard project. Like its predecessor, Keith and Kristyn do not sing lead (except for "Oh Children Come" where Kristyn is prominently featured). The vocals are mainly done by the Gettys' kids ensemble. If you think that's amateurish, the first song off the record will get you reassessing. This isn't your cutesy average Sunday school impromptu. Rather, what you have is a synchronized choir of children singing various harmonic parts. And when they come together, their voices are so seamless that you swear an angel must be stitching the parts together.

Relative to the first volume, "For the Cause" has a more international appeal. Their take of the hymn "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name," for instance, is a global patchwork of variegated cultural influences. Boasting a sweeping Celtic festive vibe that undergirds the song, you will also hear the children singing in African too. The same is true of "Oh Children Come." Originally lifted from the Gettys' 'Facing a Task Unfinished," "Oh Children Come" is given an African tribal augmentation that literally gives the song a refreshing new dimension. But when it comes to the medley "Jesus Shall ReignNothing But Blood," they elevate us above the confines of human divides to the celestial heights of heavenly worship with an acapella section of "Jesus Shall Reign" that is gloriously divine.
