A story about what's important to you - Life, Family, Faith...
5 stars By Phil, Feb 12 2018
This novel centres around a young lady (Esther) who has everything in life (family, church, fianc...) going well for her until she's confronted with a serious illness. It's a make-or-break situation that unravels her future, family, and even her faith... And it's around her faith that this book takes us on a journey. A journey that involves a whole cast of characters -each with their own story (and who like to tell stories!).

I found this to be a well-written story that cleverly weaves in many other stories. Stories about: serious illness and deep friendships; personal faith and false religion; superficial and the profound. I enjoyed the characters and could relate to them and (some of) their experiences. It was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster at times because some of the stories were especially hard-hitting with their realistic pain. The Aussie setting was both delightfully distinct, and yet also unobtrusive as it didn't impact the understanding of the story. There were also lots of vivid imagery with words and phrases that succinctly captured the emotion, mood or setting.

I've enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the continuation of Esther's story. For in some ways, I feel that it could well be me walking that difficult path of faith in tough times.

Great contemporary Christian fiction
4 stars By Wendy, Feb 08 2018
Great book. Esther's life is thrown apart with a diagnosis of cancer at 28. Her belief system is shattered, brought up in her father's mega-church to believe that healing just requires more faith or repentance of sin. She is challenged to read the bible for herself and discovers astounding truths there.

Dillon models a storytelling method of sharing the gospel and bible accounts. So, it has various potential audiences:

1.	Anyone who is interested in reading something from a biblical worldview, including one that is able to critique false views of the bible.
2.	Any Christian who wants to get some ideas on how storytelling the bible could work in conversations.

It's very engaging. I kept wondering how characters would react to the changes in Esther's life and her desire to talk about it. I was encouraged by her faith and growing ability to express it. There are Christian fiction books that have a cringe element. This isn't one of them, the truths that Esther comes to believe are of the reformed evangelical faith. This is a book that explains my faith in a way that expresses it better than I often manage to. It was an encouragement.

It's appropriate for young teens right through to mature adults.

I eagerly await her future books.

Very enjoyable, very encouraging
5 stars By Shaz, Jan 25 2018
I so enjoyed and was so encouraged by this book that I have already lent it to friends. As well as being a very enjoyable read, it has helped me to think about what it is to follow Christ - both the joys, and the cost, and has shown me how I can really be a missionary or encouragement to everyone I interact with in this world.

Insightful and relatable
5 stars By Louise Y, Jan 21 2018
Really enjoyed this read, I devoured it in one day! I resonated with the novel and how it caused me to reflect on what is the true gospel in the Bible. Also, the dialogue contains some great examples of storytelling the gospel, a method much used and loved by Christine and many others to share Jesus and the Bible.

A 'must' read
5 stars By Jane C., Jan 05 2018
This book is both inspiring and challenging. If you have ever grappled with the big issues of life, like, 'Why does God allow suffering? Do I deserve to be forgiven? What is God really like?' then this book is for you. With a gripping story line and excellent theology, this book is a 'must' read.
