Very readable story, with faith challenges
3 stars By Claire, Sep 03 2018
Like 'Grace in Strange Disguise', this book is a very readable, engaging, and moving story. I enjoyed the story of the new character, Rachel, and the other minor characters in her story, and had my faith and zeal challenged just as in the first book.
I think I found the characters less well rounded than in the previous book, and I started to notice how often questions were used as a device to bring out the emotions of the main characters (possibly overused).
Over all, I enjoyed it and look forward to the next book in the series!

A very well written book and I believe its a must for every christian who wants to share the gospel with others. Well done Christine the characters were so real and I found it hard to put the book down until I had finished.

As good as the first in a different way
5 stars By Sharon, Aug 28 2018
I read the 2 books back to back, I felt emersed in Esther's world. If you want to know how Storytelling worksruns, the author interweaves within the beautiful storyline a very practical and real example of how to go about it.
Written by one who obviously has years of experience and a passion for this way of sharing God's truth. Thank you, hope there is another one coming!!

A new kind of christian fiction
5 stars By Mariah, Aug 22 2018
Grace in the Shadows picks up where it left off in the first book, following the lives of the main character Esther and her friends and family.

I found this book very interesting and the full storyline was not at all predictable. There were times when i felt the story could have gone one way, but it didn't - but I kind of loved that about the book - it made it original and authentic and not overly fanciful.

Once again what i love about Christine's books is her emphasis on personal evangelism and sharing the good news with others. It's something that i feel is really lacking within the Christian world today and something that is so vitally important.

I especially loved one thought that Christine brought out in the story, it really resonated with me as it's something that i have personally experienced recently. It was when Esther was asking God to change Rachel and getting extremely frustrated with her. She soon realised she was the one who needed to change. Sometimes God allows us to go through situations with people even when they are in the wrong, to expose attitudes, prejudices and issues in our own heart.

Once again another fantastic book from Christine, definitely worth the read.

PS: this book made me cry.....and i haven't cried reading a book for a very long time!

Soul nourishing fiction
5 stars By Rachel Morgan, Aug 14 2018
This book will stay with me for a while! I LOVE it. A beautiful story that accurately and gracefully portrays the harsh realities of life. Yet it is full of true hope and ultimate joy.
Christian's who want to think about what living for Christ might look like even amidst the darkest painful shadows of life will find this book enriching, heart-warming and inspiring. It is more than just a beautiful story; it is a piece of work that will spur you on in your Christian faith - instilling ideas in how you yourself could encourage others towards Christ.
I enjoyed book one, but this outshines the first. More real, more refined, and best of all: soul nourishing.
