Heroes are Relative
3 stars By Jacqui, Sep 16 2012
You will find some of the great heroes in this book, and for that it is a bonus as far as a quick reference overview is concerned; Ignatius, Polycarp, Justin Martyr, St Patrick, Peter Waldo, John Wycliffe, John Huss, Martin Luther, John Knox, John Calvin, John Wesley,George Whitfield, Charles Spurgeon, Dwight L Moody,C S Lewis, Billy Graham are all included.

Yet....what about William Tyndale? He is referred to as "THE apostle of England". What a grand title that is! Yet, he is not mentioned in this publication. William Tyndale translated the bible into english and provided the first printed bibles to England. As this was against the law at the time he died a martyrs death for doing so - burned alive at the stake. He was one of the champions of the Christian faith. There is a museum and monuments dedicated to his contribution to the Christian faith. I cannot adequately express in this article of his great contribution he has contributed, and most certainly he is one of the leading heroes of the reformed protestant christian faith. His translations were originally used for the basis of many of the first printed bibles.

So, this book does omit some of the great Christian heroes of the Christian protestant faith. Including - Clement of Rome an Apostalic Father martyred for his faith, the scholar of scholars Erasmus who was the very first to translate the latin New Testament into Greek so that people like Martin Luther could translate the bible into German....his translation cannot be underestimated in helping the reformers bring reform to the English reformation, the Europe reformation as well. ALL of the apostles of Jesus are not included only St Paul is mentioned. There are a lot of Christian heroes that are omitted from this book. So it is not a complete works and the selections of "heros" is very much relative to the author of this book.
