I thought this daily devotional might be a bit overwhelmingly sad but in fact it's uplifting to read about the martyrs of the Christian faith in the way that it is written. The accompanying prayers are a special blessing and a lesson in praying in their own right. I recommend this book as an inspiration to pray for the persecuted church and as a historical record of many of those who died rather than renounce their Lord.
